An IPhone game that everyone should get when it drops.

I think these videos for the game Swords & Sworcery EP should give you a sense of its beautiful visuals and music. I don't really get the combat, but I'm sure it will be awesome.

STARGARD

In honor of probably my most faithful viewer Margard and his success at tonight's basketball game I know of flash indie game that has the same name as his old nick name Stargard (actully the game is spelled Star Gaurd but we will let that slide.)

This is about Chris' life story battling an evil wizard. You can ask him about it. it's a true story.

It's a indie game and I have to say its really hard, but the checkpoints are reasonable and beating the final boss is very satisfying but really difficult. The art style is also very simple, cool, Atari inspired, and the text keeps you entertained.

You can download it for Mac or PC (ITS FOR FREE TOO...SO WHY NOT)

anyway here is the link.

HERE IT IS

The kids of the next generation are gonna have some sick toys.

Look at this new augmented reality toy concept. It is kinda basic right now but it will eventually become something substantial.

Indie Games I'm Addicted To: Captain Forever

So some how i have come across the best online game in existence. It is called Captain Forever and it is made by a man named Farbs. You start out as a small ship and you are quickly given 4 modular boxes, 2 lasers, and 2 thrusters. Now it's up to you to build your ship however you like!

Use your mouse to put your ship together. It takes awhile to get used to putting it on the right side, but once you get the hang of it you can change your ship in seconds.

When your ship is done use WASD and QE on the keyboard to move and Space Bar to shoot. Also it is useful to zoom out and in using R and F so you can see the surrounding enemys.

This game is all about progression so you start out with the low level green parts and attack green ships to get more parts for your ship. Once you build a good enough ship you will be able to take on a orange ship which will leave orange ship parts. Then once you got a stronger orange ship you can take on red.

What sets this apart from lets say other games where you have this "big fish, little fish" mechanic is if the ship is a way higher level than you, but you see a weak point where there are no guns you can take it out strategically. I highly recommend this game!

PLAY HERE

here is some pictures showing the progression

Above I am green which is what you start as and below I am purple which is about midway through the game.

Here you can see that I'm purple and on the left there is a higher level blue. He has hella guns so it would be suicide to try to attack him! Also there is a smaller orange ship which i could take out easily as a purple guy.

The Revenge Of Icy Tower: Icy Tower Facebook

The Facebook version of Icy Tower is the same good old game you played in middle school, but it has the added bonus of social networking. The object is to jump up an endless tower of 'floor' as high as you can to the highest 'floor' before you fall to your death. As you jump the floors below crumble away and if your not fast enough you will find the floor fall from under you. Two of my friends have been trash talking me on my wall that they got to a higher floor than me and I can't seem to live with that.

Adding a competitive aspect to this game has made the replay value of this game high. Instead of fighting for a personal best. You constantly are trying to best other friends. Your rank amongst your friends is shown on the left side. And when you jump pass their best level, you see their character sitting there and you leave them in the dust.

To get it you have to add the app to your facebook

VERDICT? I NEED MY XBOX TO GET FIXED SO I CAN PLAY SOMETHING ELSE

One of the Best Videogames last year is on sale...

...for any price you want. World of Goo is a indie game that was only made by two people. It has won tons of awards over last year. The object of this physics game is to build structures with "goo" to reach a pipe where the left over "goo" will be sucked up. If you have enough extra "goo" you beat the level. anyways you will figure it out from this video of one of the levels:

a SHMU has been putting this game on the back burner for awhile, but today I am making a faithful purchase. This game has won many awards and you can buy it for as low as 1 cent even though it is worth $20. Don't feel bad either. Radiohead did the same thing with their last album In Rainbows and still accumulated a shit load of money.

BUY HERE FOR AS LOW AS A CENT!!!

VERDICT? BUY THIS GAME FOR CHEAP! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! THIS IS A SHMU STEAL DEAL!

Dead Space Extraction Review

I recently bought Dead Space Extraction, for the Wii. It rocks.

The Original Dead Space was a 3rd person action adventure game for the Xbox 360 and PS3 systems. Dead Space Extration is a 1st-person-on-rails prequel to that game. On-rails meaning you won't be doing any direct moving (Think of Time Crisis/ any other arcade shooter).

Set in an apocalyptic time in the future, the story revolves around an alien artifact that is being extracted. Something goes wrong during the extraction process, which causes people to develop dementia. Eventually everybody is either turned into a monster, or killed- which leaves you and your fellow survivors on a trek to find a safe haven without alien monsters.

There are plenty of cool weapons to use against the mutants (I won't spoil any), and each has an alternative projectile to be launched- achieved by simply twisting your wrist 90 degrees before shooting. Genius.

It plays like a movie, as there is almost no interface to the experience. Framerate is good. Sound is eerie. Visuals are stunning. 2-player co-op is a cinch to set up. My only complaint about the game would be that it doesn't go at your own pace, so events that should make you jump out of your seat don't make you jump out of your seat.
If you're easily scared don't buy this game- but if you like horror, science-fiction, or guns, pick up this title now!

VERDICT? 4.9/5

SHMU's OPINION: fuck this, you get to play on your wii while i sit at home with a fucking broke xbox the day i got a new game. Also Andy has confirmed how Asian he is by only posting about nintendo wii games. Andy you told me you were white washed by living in the OC but right now your look like the asian kid in the corner playing a gameboy and reading anime.

RED RING OF DEATH

So I just got Halo 3: ODST today expecting to come home and play the hell out of it, but now i can't cause I got THE RED RING OF DEATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I am going to have to wait another month to play to my hearts desire FML. Its okay though I understand Microsoft that you can not make a perfect system. I am not angry because I knew i could not avoid the RRoD forever. I am mad, but I still love you for your awesome warranty program. <3

Silent Hill Wii Trailer

"Harry Mason and his daughter Cheryl are heading to a small midwestern resort town. Suddenly, Harry sees a dark figure in the street and swerves to avoid it, causing a serious accident. After coming to, Harry realizes that he has smashed the car and Cheryl is missing. You must guide Harry through the strange town of Silent Hill town while he searches for his daughter Will Harry be able to save his daughter and escape the town in Silent Hill?

Designed to make full use of the Wii's unique controllers, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories uses the Wii Remote as a torch and cell phone as Mason looks for clues. The torch is vital for scouring the darkened, abandoned buildings of Silent Hill, while the phone acts as a secondary user interface, allowing the player to access maps via its GPS capabilities and take pictures of interesting elements. Likewise, the Wii Remote also can be used to pick up, examine and manipulate items to solve puzzles along the journey. Such technology was not available when the original Silent Hill was released in 1999, and its inclusion showcases Konami's determination to enhance the playing experience with new, available technology." - IGN.com

The new Silent Hill Game for Wii is going to be really scary. Instead of fighting monsters, encounters will now be "escape and evasion", which basically means you'll be runing away from them

ANDY'S VERDICT? APPROVED

SHMU's second opinion. I've never really played a Silent Hill game so i can't really make a verdict on this one, but I'd be willing to give this one a go. I will plan on renting this in the future.

SHMU'S VERDICT? GONNA RENT IT

Shadow Physics

This game will blow your mind. You are a shadow and the world you can interact with are shadows created from objects in the game. Watch the video and you will see why. BTW I apologize for the Japanese crowd in the video that shakes annoying noise makers every time they see something amazing.
