what i said above was not true. A british artist/navel officer named Norman Wilkinson thought that painting geometric patterns on ships would confuse the U-boats as to where the allied ships were heading. I don't know what effect this had on the U-boats, but who cares when it looks so cool.

VERDICT? APPROVED, PLEASE SEND ALL US SHIPS TO BE PAINTED LIKE THESE SHIPS. AND I DON"T CARE IF IT MAKES THE SHIPS STAND OUT MORE.

Cardboard Furniture Never Looked So Good

I saw this on design boom and drooled a bit, both chairs were made using computer design techniques. Then they used cardboard that was made from recycled pulp. Designed by liam hopkins and artist richard sweeney.

Too Many Portfolios To DO!!!!

So the reason I have not been posting that much is because I am finishing up my college apps. I have 6 portfolios to do. One is due on the 11th and the other 5 on the 15th. So I Do not have time to post until after the 15th. That is when I will be free to write frequently.

Anyway...to make my portfolio making much easier I have recruited the help of adobe creative suite 4. I now have Illustrator, Indesign, and Photoshop at my disposal. So i started out by creating this quick little title in illustrator for my blog. I then imported it to photoshop, took a screen shot of my blog for color pallet, changed the colors, and finally uploaded it as the new header. Anyway tell me what you think of my beginner illustrator skills above and below in this post.

I found this this summer on my Google reader, but couldn't find it in my vast list of starred posts. A second blog I follow posted this, so i found it! This is hands down the most trippy thing I have ever seen. Some of the parts look real, it is really freaky! It pails in comparison to the other projection video i posted here. Anyway this one is on some sorta modern art museum: Galerie der Gegenwart. I googled it and its all in another language (i think german or dutch) so i could not really get good info on it! anyway here is the video...PREPARE TO BE IN AWE

Japanese company Muji makes Legos Fresh

This Japanese company has taken our favorite childhood toy and has turned into something new. Instead of building your creature you can cut and build your creature using paper. I'm not gonna lie this looks like a lot of fun.

Interior Concept

Amanda Levete Architects won best interior at the world architecture festival. The main concept is create a seemless change from a netural (like a wall) to an active space (like a bench.) Here are the many concepts that they came up with:

Cool Backpack

This backpack looks really cool. It is extremely durable because its made of tire rubber. It is inspired by an animal I have never heard of called a pangolin



I think the coolest part is how it folds back. Instead of pulling stuff out of your back pack, you can just set it on a table and fold it back to easily pick up a book.

Cool Design Idea: Urban Cursor

Sebastian Campion, a danish designer, came up with this idea to build a giant box shaped like a computer curser and implant it with a gps system so it can be tracked on google maps. People were encouraged to push the cursor around where ever and see what effect they had on it by looking on Google maps. learn more here at urbancursor.com

Beanbag chair...Meet your good looking, more practical cousin

If this chair was put into production it would be a much better alternative that a bean bag chair. I mean those things do not look like they are meant to be in any room. If you put some sorta finish to this bad boy, you might find this in living rooms and not just basements (like its beanbag counterpart.)

Helix Wind Turbine

Check out this new type of wind turbine that could make getting energy a lot easier for cellphone towers. They will replace power sources to of the grid cell phone towers, that right now are using really expensive off the grid power sources. Supposedly these suckers could pay for themselves in 6 months. On top of that they can receive wind from anywhere and work in high gusts.

Digital Wallpaper

When I saw this digital wallpaper I was immediately impressed. Strukt Design Studio made this using only a projector. The cool part is they used a program to project the image on multiple planes without distorting the image. This could be very viable to use in a variety of situations:

1)Using this in a store at night would intrigue pedestrians to stop, look, and possibly go to the store the next day. The store would thus get more business
2)Use in some sorta club where you could project all the walls with this to create a unique experience.
